My minion amazing friend Megan left Georgia to pursue her French PhD at an Ivy in a far off land…so naturally before she left, I had to book her Saturday for a much overdue shoot.

The inimitable force of nature & improv actress by night, Drew Dotson, needed some head shots, so we headed out to Inman Park & the Old Fourth Ward (how could you not know my shooting ground by now?) Unfortunately the bright winter light was out to get us, and we were hit with more than a few harsh shadows…nevertheless, we improvised & cataloged a variety of her character(s).
Monica took a trip down to ATL from DC recently, and we trucked around Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, crossing paths with photographically inclined cats, stenciled graffiti skulls, & dismounted bicycle wheels. Oh, the places you’ll go.
Ok, officially terrible at posting photos in what norms would consider a reasonable time frame, but here are some pics from my trip to England / Wales this past spring.
So I actually just put together a long(ish) blog post which got deleted for no apparent reason when I attempted to publish/save the draft, so I’m sharing one photo & will muster up the energy to re-do it another day.
Today was Emory Cares International Service Day, and across the world, over 1,200 Emory students & alumni participated in service projects. I headed to a project at Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery to fix up the Georgia Historical Society’s historic marker landmark that Bobby Jones (golfer and Emory Law alumnus), Margaret Mitchell (Gone with the Wind), 25 Atlanta Mayors, 6 Georgia Governors and more notable greats call their final resting place.
Despite the heavy labor, being attacked by fire ants (vicious little beasts – we were warned) and capturing a ghost in a photo (ok, so you tell me what it is), the project was a great success: we left the cemetery greener, cleaner, and mulchier (is that even a word) than when we arrived. The day was gorgeous – the fall sunlight elongated the shadows of the ornate graves, and with the cobble-stoned pathways breaking the horizon against a backdrop of the Atlanta skyline, well, it couldn’t have been a more perfect day.
And it didn’t hurt that 6 Feet Under was right across the street.
So I’ve been a little slower than I’d have liked in my wedding photo turnaround, but here’s the first of hopefully many more to come. The bride and groom, Addy & Justin, were amazingly creative at their wedding and had a candy bar (get it, ha) for during the reception. At each guest’s seat was an empty little paper goodie bag so that people could stock up, as well as a cute wedding takeaway that contained a heart shaped cookie cutter. Talk about sweet, sweet lurve.
I do the majority of my editing on my MacBook, so when I finally have my photo edited to my liking, I post it, check it out on Windows…and BAM, it looks nothing like my original product. Anyone have any good ideas on how to circumvent the color range gremlins who love to toy with me? I know images on the web can get altered – I’ve never quite figured that particular conundrum out – or if it has anything to do with the OS I’m using at any particular point, but either way it’s got to go. This picture below is SO much lighter & clearer on the computer that I write this on now…from an IE / Windows OS standpoint…apparently not so much.
Just got back from a whirlwind trip to upstate NY – around the Cortland area – to celebrate the wedding of a couple of friends…not too much time for pictures (but plenty of time for pumpkins, apples, cider, horseradish cheese curds, and extra-sharp cheddar straight from the farm accompanied by some rhubarb ice wine from the finger lakes region). More pics to come in following posts after I edit the wedding photos!
So I had the chance to jet up to DC to visit by bf Monica (the subject of many a shoot), who gave me the VIP tour of the capital. After a strut from Georgetown to the Mall to GW Med school, I had some time to get a few semi-decent shots.
